I’m not sure what makes them so good if it’s the buttermilk biscuit base the garlic and cheese flavors or the herby garlic butter on top One thing everyone loves about Red Lobster’s savory buttermilk biscuits is that they are always served fresh!

You can save time by using Bisquick mix for this recipe if you have it. The results will be similar, and who doesn’t like convenience sometimes, right?Just use the same amount of flour in the Bisquick mix skip adding flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt.

Substitutions and Variations

  • Spice it up. Add a bit of cayenne pepper or red pepper flakes for some extra spice!
  • Change the herbs. You can easily change the taste of these biscuits by using different herbs. Try basil, cilantro or rosemary depending on what goes well with your main dish.
  • Buttermilk substitute. You can use regular whole milk instead of buttermilk but the acidity of buttermilk works best. If you don’t have buttermilk on hand add 1 tablespoon of lemon juice or vinegar to a 1-cup measuring cup then fill it the rest of the way with whole milk. Let it sit for 5 minutes before using. The acid will curdle the milk making it a good replacement for buttermilk in any recipe!

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour (250g)

  • 2 Tablespoon baking powder

  • 1 teaspoon baking soda

  • 2 teaspoon granulated sugar

  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • 1 cup salted butter, melted (227g)

  • 2 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese

  • 2 cup buttermilk or regular milk

  • Topping

  • 6 Tablespoons salted butter, melted

  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

  • 2 teaspoon dried or fresh chopped parsley

Directions

  • Preheat oven to 425°F.
  • Whisk flour, baking powder, baking soda, garlic powder, sugar, and salt in a big bowl. Stir in cheese. Combine melted butter and buttermilk until small lumps form. Stir into dry ingredients. Drop by ¼-cupfuls onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
